World Air Games 2009

Selection Committee at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the FAI President announced that the City of Turin (Italy) had been selected to host the World Air Games 2009. This multi-disciplinary event is the only official competition that brings together the various different air sports. It is a combination of elite competition and spectacular demonstrations which exemplify the very best that air sports have to offer.

Redbull Air Race

The Red Bull Air Race is an exciting competition in which the world’s most talented pilots are up against each other in a race based on speed, precision and skill. The competition features a dynamic new discipline of flying, called ‘air racing’ where the objective is to navigate a challenging race course in the sky, in the fastest possible time. Flying individually against the clock, the pilots have to execute tight turns through a slalom course consisting of specially designed pylons, known as ‘Air Gates’.

Leap Frogs

The U.S. Navy Parachute Team is a fifteen-man team comprised entirely of U.S. Navy SEAL and SWCC commandos. Each member comes to the team for a three-year tour from one of the two Naval Special Warfare Groups located on the east and west coasts. On completion of the tour, members return to operational units.
